About Honorine

Honorine is the proprietor of Sueño Pilates in San Francisco. She has been teaching for more than ten years, with intelligence and humor, and just a little profanity. Pilates has been there through her career as a line cook, time waiting tables, pregnancy, childbirth and recovery. It has helped many aspects of her life, so she hopes to transfer some of that love to you.

She decided to go down the Pilates rabbit hole when classes at her local gym alleviated her chronic knee pain. She started her studies with the Integrated Teacher Training program at A Body of Work in the Presidio. The ITT training was an anatomy-based, West Coast education, sparking her curiosity and leading her to want to continue learning.

Honorine has continued to feed her voracious thirst for knowledge through many avenues. She has attended workshops with Pilates greats such as Elizabeth Larkam, the Alpers sisters and Madeline Black. She has also repeatedly sought out amazing movement instructors such as Irene Dowd and Jean-Claude West. Her education went on to include specialization courses in scoliosis with Suzanne Martin as well as pelvic floor dysfunction with physical therapist Diane Lee. To learn from practitioners in other fields of health and wellness, Honorine volunteered at physical therapy offices as well as at Postureworks Chiropractic. The time at Postureworks led to a job as their Rehab Exercise Specialist for three years. It was an invaluable experience which gave her a deep knowledge of musculoskeletal anatomy, dysfunction and rehab techniques.

All sessions are tailored to each individual's needs, ranging from rehabilitating from recent injury to challenging full body workouts, all leading to the most efficient and effective use of your body's mechanisms. As Honorine learns new ideas, she incorporates them into her teaching, so expect a steady stream of fresh approaches and imaginative cues to challenge how you think about, and work in, your body.
